We looked at line design all over our building at Laidlaw School and captureed some design ideas using the camera on ipads. These photos helps inspire our printing designs. Colour mixing was a hit to find the perfect tint. Sometimes the colours we mixed were so appealing they had to be shared. Judging the just right amount of paint is quite a skill to master, especially when all the paints were slightly different consistency but we became quite proficient. Repeating the pattern allowed us to find that just right print. Playing with pattern, paint and placement. Roll and print.

We used course salt, cling wrap, paper and white oil pastel to explore different techniques with watercolours. We learned that the key to success was using lots of water to wet the paper first. Some of us were having so much fun we didn't want to leave when the bell rang! The following class we used the beautiful painted paper we had created to make a winter snow scene.
We forgot to share what we did with some of the beautiful art made in the lead up to the K-5 Winter Concert. We took it down and ripped it up! Although this may sounds disrespectful, we did it make something else new and beautiful and only with the permission of the artists. Can you recognize some of the Winter Concert Backdrop? Yes those were wheels from the Zamboni, microphones, snowflakes and characters all from the concert backdrop. Snow Biz lives on in the art room!
